What this site is

This site covers U.S. Space Command as a command — which spans Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville and the Colorado Springs installations where much of the command still sits — rather than Huntsville as a city.

That distinction shapes everything here. The reader we write for is someone whose working life is being moved by the relocation: active-duty Space Force facing a PCS, a GS civilian at Peterson whose billet may or may not relocate, a contractor whose program is shifting, or a spouse working out whether the move survives contact with reality.

If you are already in Huntsville and simply looking for defense work, our sister site redstonearsenaljobs.com is built for you instead.

Where the data comes from

Every number on this site traces to one of three places, and we say which on each page.

Federal pay figures come from OPM's published locality tables, retrieved directly and cited with the retrieval date. When we say Huntsville-Decatur is 21.91% for 2026, that is from the table, not an estimate.

Job market figures — salary bands, clearance distribution, employer activity — are computed from active listings on redstonearsenaljobs.com, which tracks openings across Huntsville-area defense and space employers. When we quote a median or a percentile, we state how many listings it was computed from and on what date. These describe advertised ranges, not offers, and they change as inventory turns over.

Relocation timeline facts come from U.S. Space Command's own newsroom, Department of Defense releases, and established defense-press reporting. Each entry on our timeline page carries its source, and we separate what is confirmed from what is projected.

How often this updates

Job listings sync daily. Written pages carry a visible "last updated" date at the top — if it looks stale, treat the page as stale. Figures computed from listings are stamped with the date they were computed, because a median from three months ago is not a median today.

We would rather show you an old date honestly than quietly imply a page is current.

What we do not do

We do not estimate salaries. If a listing does not publish a range, it does not enter our salary calculations. You will sometimes see us say a figure is unavailable rather than fill the gap.

We do not republish job descriptions. Listings here link back to the full posting on redstonearsenaljobs.com or the employer's own site. Reproducing the same description on multiple sites helps nobody find anything.

We do not guess at timelines. Where the public record is genuinely uncertain — and on a program running to 2031, much of it is — we say so instead of manufacturing confidence.

Corrections

If something here is wrong, we want to know, and we will fix it and update the date at the top of the page. Reach us through the contact page.

Independence

This is an independent resource. It is not affiliated with the U.S. Government, the Department of Defense, the U.S. Space Force, or U.S. Space Command, and nothing here should be read as official guidance. For authoritative information on assignments, benefits, or relocation entitlements, your chain of command and your servicing HR office are the sources that count.
